People in Fukuoka have planted many trees to protect our houses. And we have large rice paddies. There are a lot of ponds that mirror the blue sky. In the water, you can see hundreds of beautiful carp. Black carp are swimming and a few Nishikigoi are also swimming with them. Nishikigoi is a carp that has colorful body colors.Fukuoka has many fountains. Especially, Yabe area has very beautiful ones. Around two hundred years ago, a young man brought carp. It was the beginning of carp fisheries in Fukuoka. It was very difficult to plant rice because of the marshes in Yabe. People found they could breed carp instead of planting rice. They worked hard to develop their new business. Now my town has 85% share of carp production in Toyama prefecture. Please come and see beautiful carp in my town!
