Kenkayama

In night

Kenkayama is a famous festival in Toyama-ken in Japan.
Kenkayama is held in May in Fushiki in Toyama-ken.
Kenka means fighting. Yama means a big parade float.
In the morning until evening, the Yama is set with many flowers.
And it is pulled by the people in town.
The appearance is wonderful.
The people are excited.
In the evening, the Yama enters a barn once,
and the flowers are swapped for many Japanese lanterns.
In the night the Yama is pulled along with many Japanese lanterns.
Then the Yama is hit against another yama.
The scene is very wonderful and extremely exciting.
If you see that for the first time, you will be surprised.
I see it every year.
By the way, it is said that Kenkayama began in 1820.
Kenkayama is passed on from generation to generation by people from the town.
The duty of people in Fushiki may be to take over Kenkayama.
